The Lithidora has bloomed! So pretty, so purple. It's funny how living flowers are never too cutesy, never precious, even though a painting of them might be.

Pictures to be uploaded soon.

What a pretty picture. That must be a Supertunia, in the basket on the right. Can't wait to see a picture of your Lithodora. I have one in my garden also - blue (almost neon blue), and it blooms in February - different State, different Zone, different blooming times . . .!

Nice use of small fenced area. That is one of my next projects. Check out my pictures at http://gardeningpicturesandtips.blogspot.com

Very pretty!
BTW, do you use coir sheets to line your hanging baskets? Do you find it is more conducive to fungal problems? My orchids usually get 'fungal' any time I use coir or coconut husk in the planting medium.
Funnily enough, I've never seen coir sheets available here in India. Oh, the place is flooded with coconuts but no coir sheets. Curiouser and curiouser!
(BTW, I'm another Urban Gardener but your garden is way prettier... found your blog at Blotanical)

Thanks for all of your comments!

Sunita, I hadn't heard of coir sheets before you mentioned them, but now that I've googled, I may try them out next year! I've always used coconut husk, and haven't had a problem with it, as far as I can tell. Usually, I just throw something pretty and trailing in them, water, and let them be...

Your comment about the orchids though - wow! I mean, I know intellectually that orchids grow easily in some parts of the world, but in my gut they'll always be a beautiful delicate plant that needs lots of fussing over. And here you are putting them in hanging baskets outside! Crazy!

Rachel, thanks for dropping by at my blog. You're welcome there any time : )
I'm sorry, I thought that the basket above the windchime was lined with coir. What is it?
I really had a big smile about the orchid=delicate part. I used to think so too and when I first got some, I babied them and pampered them ... to death! I realised much later that my dendrobium orchids thrive on neglect. The more I ignore them, the better they bloom for me.
(Actually, I dont grow them in hanging baskets ... I either pot them up outdoors or mount them straight onto my trees.)
